NewsWork Placement ProgrammeWaterford County Council has facilitated a number of placements under the FAS Work Placement Programme (WPP). The Work Placement Programme is a Government supported programme that brings employers and the unemployed together for a work experience placement for a maximum duration of nine months. If you are unemployed and have not secured paid work, the programme allows you to apply your skills and gain valuable experience in a workplace setting. This could give you an edge when applying for jobs in the future. Waterford County Council provides valuable work experience placements that benefit both the organisation and the participant. Opportunities for WPP in Waterford Council are advertised (as they arise) on the FAS website. See FAS http://www.fas.ie/en/WPP/Participants.htm for further information.
National Internship SchemeThe Minister for Social Protection has announced a new National Internship Scheme for 5,000 people who are currently on the live register. Waterford County Council hope to host a number of these internships. Opportunities will include the areas of marketing, finance, engineering, IT and business. The scheme is being launched on 1st July 2011. See the Job Bridge website for further information http://www.jobbridge.ie/
