Cappoquin

Cappoquin Cappoquin, the "Irish Rhine" according to novelist W.M. Thackeray is situated on the River Blackwater. The town, 19km from Dungarvan, nestles in the picturesque setting of the Knockmealdown Mountains. It is also the gateway to Mount Melleray Abbey, the serene Cistercian retreat.

The river Blackwater provides some of the richest coarse fishing in the country and attracts many international anglers to the town. Reflecting the quality of its natural amenities, Cappoquin is also a Natural Heritage Area and a Special Area of Conservation.

A wide range of community facilities are available in Cappoquin, including the Cappoquin Boathouse, a new state-of-the-art community centre, complete with crèche, playschool and playground.
