Tramore
One of the leading seaside resorts in Ireland, Tramore boasts a 5km long sandy beach. The town is terraced above the beach and the sweep of the bay, a view which can be appreciated from The Doneraile Walk.
Tramore, with a population of almost 10,000, is located 43km east of Dungarvan and 11km south of Waterford City. It is a thriving seaside town that boasts 5km of sandy beaches and dunes. At the western end of the town, atop the cliffs and standing sentinel over the town, is the figure of the Metal Man, a huge painted iron figure of an 18th century sailor, stood aloft a tower, whose arm is pointed to sea as a warning to approaching ships of dangerous rocks.
Tramore is Waterford’s main dormitory town, within a 15 minute commute of the city centre and adjacent to Waterford Regional Airport. The town has a wide range of commercial, industrial, retail and community services and is rich in social and community infrastructure. Tramore offers quality recreation and leisure facilities. The town is home to such attractions as Splashworld and the famous T-Bay Surf and Wildlife Centre. Tramore Racecourse is also one of Ireland’s top horseracing venues.
